Customer Service Representative/Sales Person

 Job Description 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Waste and recycling Sales Representative proactively prospects, sells and maintains relationships with customers for waste & recycling and destruction services. Sells waste disposal and hauling, recycling, and destruction services where clear opportunity is present. And sells recycling and destruction services, has knowledge of paper grades, a plus if you have knowledge in non fiber grades (plastics and metals.)

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Responsible for new business development through cold calling, lead generation, and networking.

·         Has a thorough knowledge of all paper grades.

·         Prospects and sells all lines of waste & recycling and destruction business offered.

·         Knowledge of waste and recycling equipment is also a plus.

·         Execute the sales and overall waste, recycling, destruction goals by developing and implementing sales and marketing action plan including key objectives.

·         Provides lead generation for permanent sales opportunities to the appropriate sales representative.

·         Builds long-term relationships with customers in the assigned market area.

·         Prepares and delivers sales presentations and follows up with key decision makers to answer questions and close the sale. Additionally, prepare sales contracts with price quotes, credit terms and services.

·         Develops and maintains an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends and responds accordingly.

·         Prepares proposals, pricing, and presentations and follows up accordingly with accounts. Takes a consultative selling approach and is creative in solving problems and overcoming objections

·         Tracks information regarding all prospective customers on required format or database  

·         Regularly discusses sales activities and prospective customers with Sales Manager.

·         Fills out all required Customer Service Agreements (CSA), waste profiles, and other miscellaneous reports and paperwork in a timely manner.

·         Participates in company-sponsored training courses, meetings, and discussions regarding the classification and characterization of waste. Recycling, destruction

·         Keep up with all federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations regarding waste disposal and landfills. And waste to energy plants

·         Participates in company-sponsored activities as required.  Required activities may include trade shows and chamber of commerce events.

·         May be responsible for bad debt collection activities as required.

·         Responds to service cancellation calls as required.

·         Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

 

Job Requirements

·         Ability to use a computer and related devices, such as a keyboard or mouse or other related equipment, throughout the workday while seated at a desk or workstation.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:

·         High school diploma or general education degree required.

·         Minimum two years experience in customer contact position required.   

Preferred:

·         Sales experience preferred.

·         Waste Industry experiences a plus.

·         One to two years of experience selling to large accounts or complex contracts; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

·         General knowledge of state waste regulations.

·         Must exhibit excellent communication and presentation skills.

·         Must be able to manage accounts.

·         Thorough knowledge of marketing/presentation and sales techniques required.

·         Excellent negotiation skills required.

·         Well-developed time and area management skills.

·         Must be able to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision.

 

 

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Software USED:

·         Usual office equipment including computer, phone, fax machine, copier and calculator.

·         MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and (Outlook).

·         Company information application systems including Customer Relationship Management System (CRMS).

 Usual office environment

·         May require travel by air and/or car up to 50% of the time. Overnight stay occasionally.

Roll-Off Driver

Our Roll-Off drivers are responsible for the hauling of construction debris typically from large high volume construction sites. The driver is responsible for performing assigned duties on container delivery and hauling of industrial roll-off routes. This physically strenuous position involves mounting and dismounting a heavy-duty truck numerous times each day.

Routes may require Drivers to navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city and suburban locations. Backing skills are essential as a large percentage of the time spent servicing customers is done in reverse. Our drivers routinely climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts and at times need to climb on to the truck containers to smooth loads or secure traps for transport.

In addition, the position involves lifting (up to 50 - 75 pounds), pushing, pulling, and bending. Our drivers, who have safe driving records, also communicate professionally with customers and dispatch at all times, and comply with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and with Company policies.

Required work hours may be up to the legal limits allowed and may require weekend and/or holiday work. Work hours will vary by route. Drivers must be able to read and understand a map, complete daily driver logs as well as pre and post trip truck inspections. This position will require you to work in all weather extremes including extreme hot or cold, wet or dry conditions.

Minimum qualifications of this position include:

Must be at least 21 years of age or older

Legally eligible to work in the United States

Must have a valid Class A or B CDL with airbrakes endorsement for the state in which you are applying to work in.

At least   3 years of previous experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL within the past 7 years

Clean driving record

Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug screen, background and motor vehicle records check and Department of Transportation Physical.
