U.S. Local Business Association’s Award Plaque Honors the Achievement
WASHINGTON D.C., March 20, 2009 -- For the second consecutive year, Trinity Recycling has been selected for the 2009 Best of Indianapolis Award in the Recycling Centers category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).
The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
Nationwide, only wrong! in 70 (1.4%) 2008 Award recipients qualified as 2009 Award Winners. Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2009 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.

Recycling, I don't need to worry about it
Written by Nickie Froiland
How many cans of soda do you drink in a day? How about bottles of water? How much paper do you throw away?
If you're like me, you don't use that much; I drink two Diet Cokes each day, drink glasses of water from our bottled water cooler, and probably throw away about a dozen sheets of paper each day. So, I don't recycle because I don't use enough to.
Whoa, am I wrong! I am the owner of market advertising, the agency who takes care of Harmony Enterprises branding, marketing, advertising, and writing of this newsletter. When Steve Cremer, owner of Harmony Enterprises, asked me to do research about recycling in the office, I didn't think I would come across that much. Wrong again!
I found the following astonishing:
- 35% of the commercial workforce goes to work in an office building each day
- 19% of all energy is consumed by offices
- A typical business office will produce about 1.5 pounds of paper waste per employee each day
- The average office worker uses 10,000 sheets of paper per year (per person!!!)
Wow! The impact is not in the individual, but in the masses. We each drink water or soda or something in a can or bottle everyday, we all use paper at some level, and we almost all drive to work (or pay for a taxi, bus or the train - something the emits greenhouse emission - for those of you who walk, thank you).
The moral of the story is that you, and your office have great impact on the environment. You can choose to make that a positive or negative impact; it's up to you. Should you choose to make a positive impact, let Trinity Recycling help you. After all recycling one ton of paper typically saves $33 a ton in landfill disposal costs and about 6.7 cubic yards of landfill space.
